Muumuu S3532

I thought thought this dress looked okay the night that I wore it. But after looking at these pictures I hate it. It looks like a muumuu and I look like a torta. The dress itself was very, very easy to make. Totally recommend for a beginner. The problem with it was I'd traced out a size 12 a while ago. I was too lazy to retrace a size 14 and decided I'd just use smaller seam allowances. Well, that didn't quite work, did it?

My first problem started with the fabric in the back pooling in my back waist. Sewliz over at PR suggested I pull the excess fabric into the top yoke, which I ended up doing. This and a good press seemed to help significantly.

These pictures are big eye openers for me. I need to lose some weight.
Hi. My name is Lilia and I'm a gorda.

Here's the cute dress on the pattern envelope. In conclusion, this dress would look cute on a skinny person like the girl on the front.

I don't think you should give up on this pattern yet. I'd try making a bigger size in a more flowy fabric and I think you'll like it.

I think you're being way too hard on yourself!

I have a theory about dresses of this style: if you see someone else wearing it, you think, "Oh, how cute and stylish and summery"--but when you see yourself, you don't make the same allowance for trends, etc.

I know for a fact I've admired a lot of women wearing things I wouldn't leave the house in. Which is kind of a shame.

I think maybe a version with sleeves, in a bigger size, in a more flowy fabric (thanks for the suggestion Kath) might work. Later down the line.

Wellll.... First off, you look nothing like a big fat statue. But, I'm sorry, that's a sexy sammich, so you might look a little like that. :)

Weight is personal, so if you say you need to lose weight, I hear you. Me, I'm a flabby weakling with the muscle strength of a 4 year old. In fact, I could probably get my ass kicked by Naiobi. I'm thinking maybe we can work together on this. You know, set some goals and check in. What do you think? If I can exercise just 3 days a week, maybe I can develop a muscle or two, and that would be good. What would your goal be?

On the dress. Um. No. Not a total flop, and there's absolutely no need to regret having worn it, but there are so many that would look smashing on you.

LOVE the shoes, btw.
